Viñatigo Listan Blanco 2022

The Viñátigo Listán Blanco 2022 is a white wine produced by Bodegas Viñátigo, located on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. Founded in 1990, Bodegas Viñátigo is dedicated to the recovery and promotion of native Canary Island grape varieties, showcasing the uniqueness of the volcanic soils and climate of the region.

 

Region:

 

This wine comes from vineyards in northern Tenerife, within the Canary Islands’ protected designation of origin. The vines are planted at altitudes ranging from 500 to 900 meters above sea level, in volcanic soils that impart a distinctive minerality to the wine.

 

Grape Variety:

 

The Viñátigo Listán Blanco 2022 is made from 100% Listán Blanco, also known as Palomino Fino. These grapes are sourced from ungrafted vines averaging 100 years old, grown using the traditional “parral” training system, a technique inherited from Portuguese settlers in the 15th century.

 

Winemaking Process:

 

The grapes are hand-harvested and cooled to near 0°C before vinification to prevent oxidation without the need for sulfur addition at this stage. Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, where the wine also ages on its lees to develop complexity and texture.

 

Tasting Notes:

 

This wine features aromas of dried fruits with an appealing hint of fennel. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with refreshing acidity, broad fruity flavors, floral notes, and a long, persistent finish.
